Kick off Graffiti Summer with a nostalgic rock-and-roll celebration as the Modesto Band of Stanislaus County (MoBand) returns for its 107th season on Thursday, June 4th, 2026. This opening night, themed “Good Vibrations,” features a playlist of timeless hits from The Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas, Eagles, and A-ha. To join in the fun, attendees are encouraged to wear “wacky ties and socks” for this high-energy performance, which will also include MoBand’s signature stirring marches.
Event Details & Traditions
The concert is a FREE community event held at the Mancini Bowl in Graceada Park. Music starts at 8:00 PM, but the festivities begin much earlier.
- The Blanket Ritual: It is a long-standing Modesto tradition to “reserve” your spot on the grass by putting blankets out early on Thursday morning. The lawn often fills with hundreds of blankets by 6:00 PM as thousands of residents gather to socialize.
- Picnicking in the Park: Sharing a meal is central to the experience. You are welcome to bring a home-cooked feast or pick up a “to-go” dinner from local downtown restaurants.
- Seating Options: Beyond the grass, you can enjoy the upgraded permanent seating at the Mancini Bowl, which makes the event more accessible for those who prefer not to sit on the ground.
